Hey, Tanya here from the MakerExpo Exhibitors Team. Can you believe that it’s only 10 more sleeps until MakerExpo? (Yes, I still revert back to Mom-speak when exciting things are on the horizon!) We have the maps drawn, T-shirts & water bottles are ready to go and exhibitors are confirmed.
Now we need your support (and donations) to help make MakerExpo 2016 a smashing success.
Mike needs donations of clean, used stuffed toys, fabric, craft supplies, etc. for use exclusively at Maker Expo. He had a huge box of stuffies at the last maker event he attended, and there wasn’t much left but crumbs at the end of the day, so the more the merrier.
Do you have un-used (partially) complete board games collecting dust at home? Bring them along and drop them off as Nik breaths new life into them as we shift our thinking on what it means to “play” and the positives that come with it.
Are you an aspiring Animation, Gaming, New Media, Illustration or Design student? Consider bringing your portfolio to MakerExpo for professional review and advice by the pros at SheepDog Animation School. You can pick their brains about applying to schools as well, they are graduates of Sheridan College.
We have several knitting and crocheting experts joining us at MakerExpo. If you have a work-in-progress (WIP) project that’s stalled, bring it along and get started again with some expert help. If you have yarn, crochet hooks or knitting needles that are collecting dust at home, consider bringing them along and we’ll put them to good use.
Dial D for Diesel is wondering if you, or your parents (or grandparents?) have a roll or two of 1″ wide tele-type paper from the 1970s that he can use to program a train with punch tape. Or perhaps you could take your name home in ASCII (computer code). (I’m being perfectly candid here – I had to google that request! If you’d like to learn more about teletype there’s a helpful page over on wikipedia.)
That’s all for now, thank you in advance for your contributions and participation! See you on September 10th. I’ll be the tallest girl wearing MakerExpo Orange.
